Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration announces new technologies for faster service
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration Secretary Jim Hudson announced several service-focused initiatives in a Wednesday morning news conference.
Hudson said the improvements were all aimed at enhancing the customer experience for Arkansans. He reviewed improvements in state Mobile ID, ongoing improvements for Revenue Office customers and paperless vehicle purchases.
MOBILE ID
The mobile ID has now been integrated into Apple Wallet, Hudson said, meaning it can be used when a vendor wants to verify the ID of someone purchasing with Apple Wallet. Adding it is simple, he said: just press the “+” sign in your Apple Wallet to integrate the state ID.

The mobile ID program, launched in 2025, has been adopted by 63,000 Arkansans to date, Hudson said.
REVENUE OFFICE
Hudson continued to encourage the use of the online appointment-setting application for people who need to use services at revenue offices. The average wait time for walk-in customers is 30 minutes, but only 10 minutes for people who have made an online appointment, he said.
The check-in process, once someone arrives at the revenue office, is all done online, he said, by scanning a QR code and responding to prompts.

The secretary added that the video displays in all offices are being updated to show more Arkansas-centric content, including state programs for those on, for example, SNAP, as well as information for expectant mothers.
PAPERLESS VEHICLE
Coming soon, Hudson said, will be a completely paperless, online service for vehicle purchases, with no need to visit the revenue office to complete a purchase.
Hudson explained his experience buying a vehicle from a dealer and signing all the forms electronically. Then the dealer prints off the documents and hands them to the purchaser to take to the revenue office.
At the revenue office, that “pile of papers” is then scanned in, he said, adding that in 2024, the most recent year for which data is available, revenue offices scanned in 18 million pieces of paper. That will all be going away, Hudson said.
When the new system is in place, dealers will transmit the documents, which will then be processed, and a message will be sent to the buyer about paying sales tax, followed by a license plate being mailed. All this will be done without a face-to-face meeting with DFA personnel, he said.

Secretary Hudson also took some time to compliment Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her leadership and for bringing about forward-thinking changes
