Manchester United have agreed a £35m deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta

Ederson should become the first signatory of the new era on Manchester United after the club agreed a £35m deal with him Atalanta for the Brazilian midfielder.

The deal includes an additional £3.9m in performance-related bonuses, with the 26-year-old expected to sign a four-year deal that includes an option for a further 12 months.

Medical is next as the transfer is coming to an end

Ederson still needs to undergo a medical, but sources indicate the move should be completed in early July before United return to pre-season training.

The midfielder will become the first player to be hired since Michael Carrick was appointed permanent head coach last month.

United’s priority is rebuilding the midfield

The signing is seen as the first step in a wider midfield overhaul at Old Trafford following the departure of Casemiro.

United are understood to be targeting up to three additions in central midfield this summer and will continue to monitor West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

Further recruitment plans are taking shape

In addition to midfield, Manchester United are also investigating reinforcements on the left side of defence, with Lewis Hall among the names being considered.

The club is also looking for attacking support for Benjamin Sesko and continues to assess its goalkeeping options amid uncertainty over Andre Onana.

Ederson comes with a strong reputation having made 180 appearances for Atalanta, scoring 16 goals while playing in several midfield roles.

The Brazilian has also earned three caps for the senior national team and has been included in Brazil’s provisional squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
