“You have 48 hours to apologize for…” — Honor calls out comedian Mark Angelo for getting married

Social media commentator Honor Oriretan criticized the comedian Mark the Angel about his recent wedding, describing the timing as insensitive amid growing concerns over insecurity in Nigeria.

Oriretan said this in a post shared on social media, linking the comedian’s marriage to the ongoing kidnapping of school children and teachers in Oyo State.

He argued that the celebration reflected a lack of empathy for the victims currently affected by the insecurity in the country.

Criticism due to the time of the wedding

The commentator argued that holding the wedding at a time when the nation is facing dire security challenges sends the wrong message to the public.

He further suggested that many of the abducted victims in Oyo State could be fans of the comedian, insisting that public figures should be more mindful of the national mood before joining in the celebrations.

Quoting his post, Oriretan said: “Mark Angel Marrying at this time when the country is bleeding is not wise. Evidence of a ‘I don’t care’ attitude, a lack of empathy.”

He also added: “Those children, the teachers who were kidnapped in Oyo state are probably his fans, but to think that marriage is now the best way to show support to them is even more foolish.”

He wrote about the age difference:It is most imprudent to marry a girl probably in her early 20s, not one who is his age. THIS IS DEFINITELY A WRONG PRIORITY.”

Oriretan concluded with a strong request, saying: “MY VERDICT: Mark Angel has 48 hours to apologise, declare this marriage void to show solidarity with those children, teachers suffering in the bush and re-marry after their release. Act fast.. Be wise.. Don’t be foolish.”
