3 Reasons Why I Might Reject a Marriage Proposal from the Deputy Governor’s Son — Lady

A woman sparked a debate on social media after revealing that she was thinking about marriage proposal from the son of a deputy governor in western Nigeria despite being described as kind, responsible and intelligent.

According to the lady, she met the man through his sister while she was in Canada and he was in the United Kingdom.

Their friendship allegedly grew over time, and the suitor also became close to her brothers.

Concerns about religion and cultural differences

Sharing her dilemma online, the woman said the man possesses many admirable qualities, including being smart, handsome and calm.

However, she identified three main concerns that made her hesitant to accept his proposal.

The first question is religion. She explained that the man is a Muslim while she is a Christian and has no intention of changing her religion.

“He is a Muslim, and I am a Christian, and I intend to remain so. I have no plans to change my religion at all. I love my Jesus Christ,” she said.

Her second concern is linguistic and cultural compatibility.

She noted that she appreciates the ability to communicate in her partner’s native language and has always imagined speaking her dialect to her future children.

The age difference raises doubts

The third problem is the age difference. According to the woman, she is a year older than the deputy governor’s son, a situation she admitted she could never imagine in marriage.

She said she always envisioned herself marrying an older man who she could naturally see as the head of the house.

The lady ended her post by asking social media users for their opinion, which sparked mixed reactions, with some urging her to follow her beliefs, while others argued that love and compatibility are more important than differences in age, religion or language.
