OPHK troops rescue 10 kidnapped NECO candidates, teachers in Borno

Soldiers of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) returned ten National Examination Councils (NECO) candidates and teachers captured by suspected Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists during an attack on a secondary school in Borno State.

According to security sources, the incident started at 9:00am on Monday, when insurgents attacked the Secondary Technical School in Lassa Community, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, while the students were sitting their NECO examinations.

The terrorists reportedly abducted a number of exam candidates and teachers before fleeing to a nearby jungle.

According to intelligence sources, forces from Operation Hadin Kai undertook a rescue operation, resulting in the safe return of ten abducted victims.

According to sources, efforts to find and rescue the remaining victims are underway, while security operations continue in the area.
