“Your family demanded £12 million for the bride price?” – the matchmaker flares up while a 42-year-old woman loses a potential suitor
AND matchmaker sparked an online debate after calling out a 42-year-old woman whose marriage plans fell through after her family presented what he described as a price tag for expensive brides.
According to him, he worked hard to match the woman with a man who was genuinely interested in marrying her.
However, things reportedly took a different turn when discussions began about the bride price.
In his own words he said:
“You are 42 years old and I managed to find you a man. He asked for a bride price and your parents bring almost ₦12 million plus as a bride price. Forty two years old, no children, never married and you have in your mind to ask for that amount as a bride price.”
He claimed that the huge demand for the bride price came as a surprise and may have discouraged the prospect groom to continue the relationship.
The enforcer further revealed that the woman later complained that the man had stopped communicating with her and stopped answering her calls after discussions about the marriage.
“Now you’re telling me you called him, he’s not taking your calls and he blocked you. I know what I went through before I connected you with that man.
Forty-two years old. Now it is clear that your peasants are the ones who work for you,” he added.
The story has since drawn mixed reactions online, with some blaming the demand for a bride while others defending the family’s decision.
One user wrote, “£12 million for the bride price is too much. No wonder the man is running away.” Another commented, “Families have the right to make their demands. If he really wanted her, he would have negotiated.”
