VeryDarkMan School Pastor David Ibiyeomie calls for unity over Islamic State comments

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted strongly to Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s recent comments on claims that Nigeria could turn into an Islamic state.

He took to his Instagram page to criticize the message, warning that such statements, when not properly explained, could create religious misunderstanding and deepen divisions among Nigerians.

He argued that many followers could misinterpret such sermons and begin to believe that Muslims collectively share a single agenda, which he described as far from the reality on the ground.

According to him, insecurity in Nigeria affects both Christians and Muslims, and terrorism should not be framed as a religious agenda.

“This kind of preaching by David Ibiyeomie is very dangerous especially when not dissected properly. With this kind of message now, 80-90% people are leaving the church with the mentality that all Muslims are in it to Islamize Nigeria.”

He further noted that many Muslim communities in northern Nigeria were badly affected by the terrorist attacks, stressing that the victims belonged to all religions.

“Chibok is in Borno state and Borno is a Muslim state. Zamfara is a Muslim state and 16 farmers were killed there yesterday. These people you say want to Islamize Nigeria are also killing Muslims.”

VeryDarkMan claims that Boko Haram and other terrorist groups have also attacked churches and mosques, insisting that the real problem is terrorism, not religion.

He also cited instances in which the group allegedly killed Islamic clerics who spoke out against Boko Haram, including attacks inside mosques.

This comes amid talks on religion, insecurity and national unity, as Nigerians call for clearer communication and collective understanding in the fight against terrorism.
