“Banditism did not start under him” – Nigerian woman living in UK defends Tinubu over insecurity

Nigerian living in UK woman sparked reactions online after she explained why she continues to support President Bola Tinuba despite the security challenges facing the country.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she claimed that insecurity and banditry did not start under Tinubu’s administrationnoting that the problem had existed for many years before he took office.
She said in her own words:
“I will touch my heart and tell you that banditry existed before President Tinubu came into office.”
She added that many Nigerians recognize that the president is making efforts and should be given a chance to finish his term before being tried.
According to her, too quick dismissal or replacement of leaders does not necessarily solve the country’s problems, especially when it comes to long-term issues.
“I support him because people say he is trying and because the boy is there and when he is there, let him stay and do his eight years” he added.
Her comments drew mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing that Tinubu deserves more time to implement his policies and reforms, others insisting that citizens have every right to demand immediate improvements in security and governance.
The statement added to the growing debate over President Tinubu’s performance, with supporters and critics continuing to express differing views on the direction the country is heading.
