AND businesswoman went viral after sharing an emotional account of how she allegedly lost a business a space in which she invested a lot after renovating it.
In a video posted online, the woman claimed to have spent millions of naira transforming a leased real estate into attractive business premises.
According to her, after the renovations were completed and the property became more valuable, her landlord issued a notice, stating that the building would be demolished.
She claimed that after she left the premises, the property was rented to another tenant at a higher price, leaving her feeling taken advantage of and financially ruined.
Undeterred, she moved to another place, but after a while, the landlord asked them to move out.
The woman expressed frustration over what she described as challenges tenants and small business owners face in Lagos, saying repeated disputes with landlords can wipe out years of investment and hard work. She said the experience left her exhausted and discouraged.
“This is how I lost everything. I’m so tired. Landlords in Lagos will humiliate you. It’s because of spending millions of Naira to renovate the premises and landlords always trying to pressure you or evict you.
In my previous apartment, the landlord quit and claimed he wanted to use it for personal use only to rent it out to another person who did the same job.
Then we had to move to a smaller place trying to make up for all the losses.
The boss said he wanted to tear it down and told us to pack up and fired us. I’m tired at the moment…” She said.
