Cucurella invites Enzo Fernandez to join him at Real Madrid after leaving Chelsea

New Real Madrid signing Marc Cucurella revealed that he would welcome a reunion with his ex Chelsea teammate Enzo Fernandez at the Bernabeu, further fueling speculation about the midfielder’s future.
Cucurella recently completed a move to the Spanish giants and has now publicly backed the idea of Fernandez following him to Madrid after the World Cup.
Cucurella hopes to meet again
The Spain international described Fernandez as both a close friend and a top player, admitting he would be delighted to see the Argentine at Real Madrid.
“He’s a great player and a friend of mine,” Cucurella said. “He congratulated me on signing. I hope it happens. I would be very happy.”

Branič added that the possibility of both players leaving Chelsea for Madrid in the same transfer window would be a special moment.
The future of Fernandez remains unclear
Fernandez’s long-term future at Chelsea has been the subject of speculation for months.
The Argentine midfielder found himself at the center of controversy last season after comments about Madrid prompted questions about his commitment to the London club.
Speaking earlier, Fernandez admitted he liked Madrid and would consider living in the Spanish capital, statements which reportedly led to disciplinary action from then-manager Liam Rosenior.
Despite the controversy, the 25-year-old has remained an important figure for Chelsea, starting 35 league games and providing 10 goals and four assists during the 2025-26 season.
Real Madrid’s interest is growing
With Chelsea missing out on European football and undergoing another period of transition, reports continue to link Fernandez with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be an admirer of the midfielder, although any potential deal would likely require significant negotiations given Fernandez’s status as one of Chelsea’s key assets.
