Nigerian lady living abroad has sparked reactions on social media following claims that people living outside Nigeria have fewer prayer worries because many basic needs are already met.
In a viral video circulating on Xu, the lady claimed that the main prayer for many people abroad is simply to stay alive and enjoy life.
According to her, many of the daily struggles that drive people to constant prayers in Nigeria are largely absent in developed countries.
“There is no prayer point abroad, the only prayer point here is ‘God, quicken me to enjoy’.”
She went on to say:People abroad do not have a prayer point. Would you like to pray again? God did it.”
The video has mixed reactions
The woman’s remarks quickly sparked a debate online, with many Nigerians sharing differing opinions on the relationship between religion, economic hardship and daily living conditions.
User identified as Mayor of he asked if Nigerians would remain religious if the country were to function better.
“That is why I always wonder if Nigerians would still be religious people if the country was functioning and basic amenities were provided and there was a guarantee of security of life and property.”
Another user, Mrbuchyhe blamed the country’s political leadership for the difficulties the citizens were facing.
“The evil created against us is our political class. They want us to sell Kuli Kuli while they fly private jets and yachts!”
RealpizaFx he partially agreed with the woman’s point of view, noting that people abroad often face fewer economic uncertainties.
“Despite her exaggeration, I still understand her so well because you don’t see people going to church like they often do in Nigeria. Many things work in their economy.”
Mercy highlighted the daily worries many Nigerians face.
“In Nigeria, you pray before going to bed, after waking up, before getting on the bus, before buying fuel and before checking your account balance.”
However, another user, Pelumihe disagreed with the woman’s perspective, insisting that prayer should go beyond seeking material needs.
“Because for her, God is used, not served and worshiped. For me, God is my Father. I always want to be in his presence.”
