“Abeg leave that room. On bachelor dey there.” – the man told how the robbers passed by his apartment
AND man shared how he escaped a robbery after armed thieves broke into his apartment complex at night, but deliberately ignored his room after deciding there was nothing of value inside. His account has since caused amusement and sympathy on social media.
According to the man, the intruders climbed the fence of the complex before breaking into the first apartment and later moved to the second apartment. While the robbery was going on, he remained in his room without the possibility of defending himself.
He said he tried to contact people for help but was unable to reach anyone as the network suddenly became unavailable, leaving him worried as the robbers approached his part of the building.
The robbers allegedly spared his room
Recalling the tense experience, the man said: “Last night thieves entered our property. They broke through the fence and started robbing the first apartment. Before anyone could react, they moved to another apartment. Meanwhile I was in my room, no weapons, no insurance, nothing, not even the cutlery I have at home is sharp! Just me, my phone and intense prayer.”
He added that he fears that he will soon become their next target.
Describing the unexpected turn of events, he said: “Then I heard one of them say; ‘Abeg leave that room. I’m a bachelor there. But get nothing of value.’ Just imagine. The armed robbers looked at my room and decided that breaking in would be a waste of their professional time.” This remark left him relieved, but also embarrassed by implication.

The man explained that while his neighbors woke up to find their TVs, phones and generators stolen, none of his belongings were taken. because the robbers never entered his room.
