“£1,000 for just 8 tomatoes” – Man lashes out at rising food prices, says Nigerians are suffering

Nigerian man expresses frustration at the increasing prices of food items, revealing that he bought only eight tomatoes for ₦1,000 at a market in Yaba, Lagos.
In the viral video, the man wondered how ordinary Nigerians, especially those with large families, are expected to cope with the sudden rise in the prices of staple foods.
He complained that basic cooking ingredients such as tomatoes, peppers and onions have become increasingly expensive and are difficult for many households to afford.
The visibly agitated resident also criticized the wider economic situation, pointing to the rising cost of living and hardships many Nigerians are facing.
He argued that rising costs of necessities are putting significant pressure on families who are already barely making ends meet.
His words…
“Nigerians, this video I’m about to make, I didn’t want to make it but out of anger I’m here to make this video because I’m not happy. These 8 tomatoes I bought this morning for N1000 in Yaba. 8 tomatoes for a thousand Naira.
Now tell me, a family of eight, how many of these tomatoes will they buy to feed their family for just one day.
On normal days, to eat a bag of noodles, you need this amount of tomatoes. Whoever is doing this to us in this country called Nigeria. It will never be okay with you. Whoever defends you on air, online and offline, it will never be with them…”
