Representative Oyo rejects negotiations with kidnappers, demands rescue of victims

The Oyo State The House of Assembly has rejected calls for the state government to negotiate with kidnappers who abducted teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area.

Lawmakers instead called for stepped-up rescue operations and stronger security measures to ensure the safe return of all victims while preventing future attacks on schools and communities across the state.

Chairman Adebo Ogundoyin said the focus should remain on rescue operations, intelligence gathering and strengthening security and not engaging in negotiations with the kidnappers.

“Negotiations with the hijackers could trigger further attacks. Efforts should remain focused on rescue operations, intelligence gathering and strengthening security across the country.”

The assembly also called for the establishment of a permanent military base in the affected area to improve security and response time to future threats.

Lawmakers further called for security audits of vulnerable schools, increased support for local security units and accelerated action by state police as part of a broader effort to address insecurity.

This development comes amid growing concern over the safety of students and teachers following the recent kidnapping in Oriire Local Government Area.
