The Super Falcons are targeting back-to-back wins over Senegal ahead of Monday’s friendly

Nigerian Super Falcons will attempt to complete the cleanup Senegal when the two sides meet in the second of their international friendlies at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Monday.
The encounter follows Nigeria’s 2-1 win in the first leg on Friday, where the West African champions showed attacking quality to secure a result despite a late push from the visitors.
Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne suited up for Nigeria, while Sokhna Nogaye scored a late consolation goal for Senegal in a tight game.
The doubleheader is part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to be held in Morocco between July 25 and August 16.
Tactical preparation ahead of WAFCON
Head coach Justine Madugu is using the friendly series to assess squad depth and tactical options ahead of the big continental challenge, where Nigeria will once again be among the favourites.

Senegal, meanwhile, are also fine-tuning their squad ahead of the tournament, where they have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
Nigeria will compete in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi.
Qualification for the World Cup increases the pressure
This year’s WAFCON has added significance as it is also Africa’s qualification route for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The four semi-finalists will automatically qualify for the global tournament, while the teams eliminated in the quarter-finals will enter an additional play-off to determine the remaining African representatives.
Nigeria head into the competition as defending champions after securing a hard-fought 3-2 win over Morocco in the last final in Rabat.
