Nancy also acknowledged the strong support she receives from her fans, noting that their belief in her motivates her to keep trying. According to her, to let them down would be like treason.
She further stated that it would be disrespectful to her Creator to diminish the talent she believes she was given, simply out of fear of judgment or criticism.
In her words…
“Becoming KEMI SANYA 2.0!!
First, I just want to say a huge thank you for all the feedback on my performance in Blood Sisters 2, which went to #1 on the Top 10 in less than 24 hours!
One question I get asked a lot is on slide 4…”Where did I have to dig from”…The answer? I had to evacuate Nancy Isime for Kemi SANYA to take over completely.
The result is what you are currently viewing.
It’s a huge risk for an actor, because some of us never come back.
To achieve this, I isolated for about a week before the shoot and also isolated a lot during the shoot.
Sometimes, after rehearsing a scene, the director will yell “action,” Kemi will do something, and we’ll all look at each other like “WTF?”
After I wrapped Kemi, I was physically unable to work on other projects for about 2 months because I truly had nothing to give to anyone else. I was empty.
Acting is not my hobby. It’s not a money making plan for me. That’s my life! I am blessed to make a good living from it.
My fan base, who happen to be some of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met, deserve nothing but the best; they deserve to be inspired and motivated every time they look at me.
It would be an insult to my creator to invest all this talent in me, and I repeatedly downplay it because I worry about doing too much or looking stupid.
Lastly, but most importantly, it will be cruel to the amazing people who have given me this amazing opportunity to become Kemi if I just give a lackluster performance because I feel safe.
From Netflix, to EbonyLife studios, to the creators, writers, directors, producers, costumes, makeup artists, sound engineers, editors, my amazing collaborators who brought all their games to the set!
It was too easy to believe and really become KEMI SANYA 2.0!
Blood Sisters 2 is a performer’s dream, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity!
Calls, messages, posts, comments and yes, crying happy tears on my bed in my dark room
Cheers to more roles and productions that will truly ignite”.
