“I’m back on the street” – Nigerian woman living abroad left her husband because of a 50/50 marital dispute

A Nigerian living abroad woman shared why she walked out of her four-year marriage, revealing that she had left her husband and returned to the single life after repeated disagreements over finances.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that they’ve been working 50/50 since moving overseas, sharing bills and responsibilities evenly.

She said in her own words:

“Since we’re doing 50/50, yes we do, but now you still want to collect some of my money. We shared everything equally, so why is my personal money an issue now?”

The situation allegedly escalated after the couple received a back payment from the company of around ยฃ4,000 for work previously carried out.

According to her, her husband insisted that she contribute the part money despite their agreement to share it responsibilities equally in the house, the request she said led to a big conflict between them.

“We work 50/50, but you still want to control my money. You even calculated how much I should bring in from my personal earnings. That was my breaking point,” she added.

Her revelation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users debating whether 50/50 marriage arrangements work, particularly among couples living abroad.

The situation has also reignited conversations about money, control and financial boundaries in modern relationships.
