“I will never hand over to my sons” – Pastor Kumuyi explains why none of his sons will inherit Deeper Life Church

  • Pastor William Kumuyi said he will not hand over Deeper Life Church to any of his biological sons, stressing that the ministry belongs to Jesus Christ and not him.
  • He cited biblical examples, including Peter, Paul and John, to support his view that church leadership should not be inherited through family ties.

Founder and General Overseer of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, William Kumuyi, has stated that none of his biological sons will inherit the leadership of the church, insisting that the ministry belongs to Jesus Christ and not him.

Speaking on the issue of the inheritance of the church, Kumuyi said he has no authority to hand over the church to any family member as it is not his personal property.

“The reason I will never hand Deeper Life Church over to any of my biological sons is because the church does not belong to me. It is the church of Jesus. No one has the right to hand it over to their son,” he said.

The respected priest referred to the key figures of early Christianity, emphasizing that the leadership of the church was not passed down through family lines.

“Peter did not hand over the church to his son, Apostle Paul had no son or wife, and John did not hand over the church to his sons,” added Kumuyi.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about succession in religious organizations, particularly concerns about the transfer of leadership to family members in some ministries.

Kumuyi argued that the church belongs to Christ and that decisions regarding its leadership should be guided by biblical principles and not family relationships.
