“The biggest mistake in my life” – the man recounts the conversation with his mother before his first salary
The Nigerian spoke openly about the fallout after informing his family of his newly secured job and monthly salary.
In a post on his X handle, @Themrbachelor, he shared that his mother called him after he received his first paycheck.
The man shouts
During their conversation, his mother congratulated him on the milestone and informed him of his younger brother’s school fees, which totaled N30,000.
”My mum called me to congratulate me, ending the call with: “Your brother needs £30,000 for textbooks, and I told him not to worry, because his big brother is now working for a big company“, he said, recounting the completed telephone conversation.
The arrival of the first salary
When his first paycheck arrived, 70 percent was earmarked for household expenses, while he spent the entire month eating low-budget meals and hiking to cut down on spending.
However, he turned to his mother to inform her of his financial situation, to which she burst out laughing.
Meanwhile, he sat in his room staring at his empty pot, wondering how he had become a millionaire according to his family’s assumption.
“He sat in my room and looked at my empty pot, wondering how I became a millionaire only in my family’s imagination.”He added.
