CEO of Fashion Bomb Daily Claire Sulmers turned heads on the 2026 BET Awards red carpet in a custom creation by a Nigerian designer Shadiat Alasookeproving once again that African fashion has a place on the world’s biggest stages.
The figure-hugging dress is a masterclass in texture and craftsmanship. Crafted with hundreds of overlapping circular appliqués, the dress creates the illusion of shimmering fish scales or iridescent petals, catching the light from every angle. The embellishments alternate between rich shades of navy, teal, emerald and a hint of gold, giving the dress a multi-dimensional, almost holographic finish.
The silhouette is equally impressive. The plunging V-neckline adds a touch of glamour, while the molded bodice cinches in at the waist before subtly flares across the hips to create a beautifully defined hourglass shape. Structured peplum-like hips give the dress a couture feel, balancing the softness of textured embellishments with architectural precision.
Claire styled it clean to make the dress shine. She paired the look with a sleek chin-length bob, soft glam make-up with a smoky eye and minimal jewellery, including a dainty bracelet which complemented rather than competed with the intricate design.
