Dayo Amusa condemns drawing celebrities into Oyo abduction fury

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa spoke out against what she described as growing online backlash and pressure aimed at entertainers and creative people over national issues.

In a post he shared on social media, Amusa asserted that many people in the creative industry are increasingly being attacked for expressing their opinions or continuing to work during a period of national crisis.

She noted that filmmakers often take significant financial risks, including high-interest loans, to finance productions and should not be expected to suspend their livelihoods due to ongoing events in the country.

The actress also criticized social media users who pressure celebrities to constantly comment on political and security issues, insisting that public figures should not be forced to conform to online expectations.

According to her, she has decided not to let online criticism dictate how she uses her platform.

Despite her concern over online harassment, Amusa commiserated with the families of the abducted teachers and students in Oyo State, praying for their safe return and expressing hope that the victims would soon be reunited with their loved ones.

Her words…

“I woke up today with a full heart… The bullying many of you are putting our colleagues in the creative industry through is insane…

They cannot freely share their opinion, they cannot publish their affairs without being called insensitive.
We’re going to the bank to get high interest movie loans, but you want us to shut down our businesses and post daily videos of kidnappings and cursing the government while you’re in your own office, tweeting and enjoying your surroundings.

The day I decided to start actively using this app, I decided that many of you trolls don’t matter..I won’t rise to the mob because I didn’t build my brand on it..
I have other streams of income, don’t act silly under my post, I’ll send you home…

However, may God help the families of children and teachers who were kidnapped in Oyo State.. May they return home safely 🙏”
