- Allegedly, his alleged voter data from the INEC portal was made public.
- Ike contested for a seat in the House of Representatives for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency.

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has expressed anger at what he described as a breach of his privacy after his alleged voter information from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal was allegedly published.
Ike, who was vying for the House of Representatives seat for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), said the incident shocked him and worried him about data security.
The controversy followed reports that Lere Olayinka, Media Aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, allegedly shared screenshots online containing the actor’s voter registration details.
The leaked data was said to include sensitive personal information such as his voter identification number, application records, registration center, passport photo and other details allegedly obtained from the INEC database.
Speaking during an interview with The Morning Brief on Channels Television, Ike condemned the incident, describing it as unacceptable and a serious breach of trust.
He criticized the ease with which such information was accessed and released to the public, saying that it raises wider concerns about the protection of citizens’ personal data.
According to him, the issue goes beyond politics and reflects a dangerous disregard for the right to privacy.
he said:
“It is quite shocking, extreme and the height of political profligacy for a government official to access citizens’ data from INEC cyber…”
Ike warned that allowing such actions to go unpunished could set a worrying precedent where citizens’ personal information is no longer secure.
He also stated that he was ready to take action against those allegedly responsible for leaking his information, insisting that no individual or public official has the right to disclose private information without authorization.
The actor added that if such behavior continues unchecked, it could undermine trust in public institutions and the country’s digital records systems.
On his political ambitions, Ike explained that although he originally planned to contest in his home state, he was encouraged by supporters in Abuja who urged him to run for the FCT, believing he could contribute to the leadership there.
