“I will be on the field” – Davido promised to support Adeleka ahead of the election for governor of Osun

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has pledged strong support for his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademolo Adeleke, ahead of the upcoming governorship election in the state.
In a statement released on Wednesday June 3, 2026, Davido who is set to perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert said he will actively resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral process of the August 15, 2026 election.
The singer reposted a video on his Instagram Story with former Permanent Electoral Commissioner, Nnenna Otti, who spoke about electoral malpractices. Alongside the video, he issued a warning against vote-rigging, insisting that those involved would face serious consequences.
“August 15th, anyone who tries to rig go collect at the highest level. I’ll be on the field to defend our votes. I’ll be on the field to defend our votes. Keke must be used if necessary!!! @aadeleke_01 I’ve got your back sir!” he wrote.
It will be recalled that in April 2026, David was appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Head of Youth Mobilization for the Accord Party Electoral Council shortly after he joined the party. He also recently launched the Imola Youth Mobilization Campaign Council.
