“If you can’t stay with your girlfriend for more than two weeks, how do you want to get married?” – A lady tackles men

Nigerian lady sparked backlash online after calling out men who claim they can’t stay with their girlfriends for more than a few weeks without getting bored.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she questioned how such men intend to handle marriage if they are already struggling with spending longer time with their partners during the relationship.

She said in her own words:

“You people, you people have a very stupid audacity. How can you tell me that you can’t let your girlfriend, your girlfriend, let’s say a one-year relationship, like a three-year relationship, stay with you? If she stays with you for more than two weeks, you will be tired.”

She argued that marriage requires a lot more commitment than dating, stressing that anyone who gets bored after a short period of time may not be ready for married life.

According to her, many forget that a wedding lasts only one day, and marriage is a lifelong commitment that requires patience, understanding and constant companionship.

“So how would you get married? Wedding and marriage are two different things. Wedding is a day, marriage is for life. So how do you mean to get married? Abi, a woman is supposed to go to her parents’ house and come to you, stay for two weeks and then come back?” she added.

Her comments drew mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that living together helps build stronger relationships, while others argued that individuals have different emotional boundaries.

The video continues the debate on social media about compatibility, tolerance and readiness for marriage.
