IPOB sets severe penalties for members who defy Nnamdi Kanu’s authority

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) promised to take disciplinary measures against members who undermine the authority of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The warning comes amid efforts to resolve a growing leadership row within the organization following recent changes to its leadership structure.
In a statement released by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group warned that any member or faction that acts contrary to Kanu’s instructions or the Code of the organization The conduct would face sanctions, including suspensiondismissal from office and expulsion.
This development follows the deepening of rifts within the movement following the dissolution of the third administration of the IPOB State Administration, led by Chika Edoziem, and the inauguration of a new leadership led by US-based Chris Nwagwe.
According to IPOB, Kanu used the powers conferred on him by the organization’s Code of Conduct to dissolve Edoziemo’s administration and appoint a fourth State Administration.
The group claimed that Kanu remains the only person with the power to appoint, suspend or fire top officials within the organization.
“Any individual or group that persists in defying the lawful authority of the supreme leader, undermining IPOB’s command and control structure or acting contrary to the Code of Conduct will face severe disciplinary measures, including suspension, removal from office and expulsion from the movement.
The era of indiscipline, constitutional frivolity and unauthorized usurpation of power within IPOB is over. The authority of the Supreme Leader remains supreme, unquestioned and binding on all members.” it is stated in the press release.
IPOB insisted that Nnamdi Kanu remain the supreme authority within the movement and warned members against actions that may undermine the organization’s command structure.
