“It’s the work of merchants of darkness” — Veteran actor Francis Duru debunks viral video showing him critically ill
Veteran Nollywood actor Franjo Duro has released a video statement strongly refuting a viral video falsely claiming he is critically ill.
Addressing his audience directly to prove his beneficence, Duru dismissed the video as a completely fabricated health scare concocted by malicious individuals to increase traffic on social networks.
“I’m making this video in light of the very vicious videos going around about me being sick to the level you could see in that video,” Duru stated.
“Well, I’ve never been so sick and I’ll never be so sick.”
The actor condemns unethical digital drivers in traffic
Duru expressed his deep frustration with the content creators behind the scam, describing them as “merchants of darkness” who use negativity as a weapon for online engagement.
He expressed serious concern about the current state of digital media and the manipulation of modern tools.
“That video is the handiwork of dealers in darkness, evil, people who sit and create negativity for people,” said Duru.
“You just don’t believe in the success of people driving traffic. And that’s what social media or artificial intelligence is. Then we’re really in big trouble.”
Direct reassurance offered to anxious public and colleagues
The actor confirmed that he is in good health, addressing the sudden panic the video caused among his colleagues, friends and large fan base who frantically called to verify the news.
“With God’s grace, we will be stronger and stronger,” Duru reassured. “Please, friends who were ashamed, scared, even those who are just calling… just to know if it’s true. Well, this is me. Anything beyond this is something from somewhere else.”
An expression of gratitude to fans amid a growing industry trend
Concluding his statement, Duru thanked his supporters for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers, love and concern that followed the false report, choosing to counter the evil intent of the hoax with a message of gratitude.
