“My husband locked up my shop because I said I don’t want to be a Muslim anymore,” the woman shouts

AND woman caused reactions online after she alleged that her husband cut off her source of income after she told him she no longer wanted to practice Islam.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that she grew up in a Christian home and was never informed at the beginning of their relationship that she would eventually accept her husband’s religion.

“My husband locked up my shop and took all my source of income because I said I don’t want to be a Muslim again. I grew up in a Christian family, and he didn’t tell me at the beginning that I had to follow his religion,” she said.

At first the woman was looking for her husband he convinced her that she could freely practice Christianity and that he had no problem with her faith.

However, she stated that he later changed his attitude and insisted that she must convert to Islam.

“He told me to follow my doctrine as a Christian and he has no problem with that. One day he stood firm and said that I must follow his religion and I accepted, although we had problems with it at first, but my family intervened and said that a wife must practice her husband’s religion,” she added.

According to her, she later became uncomfortable with the arrangement and decided she no longer wanted to continue practicing Islam.

She stated that her decision caused tension in the marriage and eventually led to her husband locking up her shop.

The story has since sparked reactions online, with Nigerians sharing differing opinions on religion, marriage and personal freedoms.
