Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has shared how he deals with challenging times and the people he turns to for support in difficult times.

Speaking in an interview with Dear Ife, the movie star revealed that his wife is usually the first person on his mind whenever he feels overwhelmed. However, he said that he tries not to burden her often, noting that she already has her own professional obligations, and at the same time she handles family and household obligations.

According to Okanlawon, there are situations when the pressure becomes too much for him to handle alone, forcing him to wake up his wife in the middle of the night so that they can talk and she can comfort him.

The actor further explained that he doesn’t just rely on his wife for emotional support. He found that he had intentionally built a strong support network of a therapist, mentors, and trusted friends who provided guidance and encouragement whenever needed.

Okanlawon stressed the importance of men seeking help instead of carrying every burden themselves, adding that trying to handle life’s challenges alone can eventually become overwhelming.

His words…

“When things are too difficult, my wife is there. She is not the first because she is busy with her own business and raising a family. But when it is too difficult for me, I will wake her up in the middle of the night and tell her to help me.”

“My job is to protect the people around me. If gbege happens here now, chances are I’ll be standing in front. That’s what has to happen. There’s no excuse, you also have to be aware enough to find healing.”
