“Sorry Ycee, all you need now is not marriage or love, but education” — GehGeh tells Peller
Popular financial commentator and social media personality GehGeh invited the streamer and content creator Peller to apologize to Nigerian rapper Ycee following their recent online spat.
The controversy started after Ycee criticized what he described as the “Peller culture” in Nigeria, complaining that society no longer celebrates academic excellence and that many young people now believe they can achieve success by creating “nonsense” online because such content attracts views, engagement and money.
Reacting to the rapper’s comments, Peller dismissed Ycee’s remarks and questioned why musicians criticize content creators despite relying on them for publicity.
“Some OGs don’t deserve respect. This kind Ycee man, now I see the old man speak. You people take the promotion of music to the so-called olodo, on the same day these people promote and beg with a small amount of money.” Peller wrote.
He further stated that online creators have become a major part of the entertainment industry and play a significant role in helping musicians promote their songs and expand their reach.
“On online una sabi give money. When you don’t want to promote music, those same people still don’t run to meet you,“, he added.
However, GehGeh disagreed with Peller’s response and advised the content creator to apologize to Ycee, saying the exchange exposed his shortcomings.
Addressing Peller, GehGeh said: “Peller, I want you to go apologize to Ycee. You brought this public shame on yourself. You made money, all you need now is not marriage or love. You need an education to go places as a streamer.”
