The two-time Grammy winner died a few days after suffering a stroke

Tragedy has struck the music industry following the death of two-time Grammy-winning R&B singer Peabo Bryson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer died on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 75.

Before his death, he suffered a stroke and was surrounded by his loved ones. He died in Marietta, Georgia.

The legendary R&B singer was born Robert Peapo Bryson on April 13, 1951 in Greenville, South Carolina.
He grew up on his grandfather’s farm in Mauldin, South Carolina, surrounded by music. His mother often took him to concerts of famous African-American performers, which stimulated his love for music.
Bryson’s professional career began at age 14, backing up Al Freeman and the Upsetters.
He released his debut album “Peabo” in 1976, followed by the gold-certified albums “Reaching for the Sky” (1977) and “Crosswinds” (1978).
Namely, Bryson’s smooth voice and romantic ballads earned him the title of ‘King of Ballad Performers’.
In addition, he has collaborated with iconic artists such as Celine Dion, Regina Belle, Roberta Flack and Natalie Cole. His Disney duets, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Whole New World’, won two Grammy Awards and two Oscars.
