Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sparked reactions online after he issued a strong warning following the disruption of a recent protest in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The activist made the statement while reacting to an incident that occurred during the “Save Our Children” protest organized to demand the rescue of abducted students, teachers and other victims from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a viral video that has been circulating on social media, suspected thugs are seen attacking protesters and trying to break up the protests.
Reacting to the incident, the VDM expressed anger at the alleged attack and warned against any future attempts to disrupt peaceful protests organized by its supporters, known as Rateli.
“This is to inform the public that after what happened at the protest in Ibadan with the thugs who attacked us, every time the Ratels come out for a peaceful protest again, every thug who comes out to disrupt the protest has been forewarned”, he said.
The controversy comes days after reports of an alleged attack on protesters in Ibadan during demonstrations calling for the rescue of abducted school children.
His comments quickly gained attention on social media. While some supporters supported his stance and argued that the protesters had the right to protect themselves, others expressed concern about the strong language used in his statement.
As discussions continue online, the incident has further fueled conversations about public safety, peaceful protests and growing concerns about insecurity in the country.
