Senior Pastor of Global Impact Church, Yemi Davids, invited the woman worshippers accept modest clothing, warning that revealing clothing in church can create the wrong impression and distract fellow believers.

Speaking during a recent church service, Davids expressed concern about what he described as a growing trend among some women to dress inappropriately attending religious gatherings.

The priest said he had noticed situations where tight clothing and short shirts revealed underwear lines and body contours, which he felt were inappropriate for a place of worship.

Concerns about appearance in the church

According to him, Christians should take responsibility for their appearance before leaving the house, especially when attending church services.

“We shouldn’t be able to see your panty lines. It’s not right. Check yourself before you leave the house,” Davids said.

He complained that some worshipers wear clothes that reveal too much of their bodies, making them visible even to people sitting in the back of the church.

“I’m horrified when I see someone come to church with everything so tight. The top is only up to the waist and the people sitting in the back can see everything. It’s not right,” he said.

Davids argued that the way people dress often affects how others perceive them.

“What you’re willing to show can make it seem like you’re willing to share it. It creates a certain impression,” he said.

Impact on perception and relationships

The pastor further suggested that revealing clothing could affect how some men view women who may be looking for serious relationships.

“Sometimes, when a man sees a woman revealing everything, it can even influence his decision to approach her for marriage. You’re starting to look like a public spectacle because everyone can see your underwear,” he remarked.

He emphasized that private parts should remain covered, especially in the environment of worship.

“Do not expose your private parts. don’t do that You come to church,” he added.

Men also have responsibilities

Addressing criticism that women are often at the center of conversations about modesty, Davids acknowledged that men also have a duty to exercise self-control.

“Some people ask, ‘Why don’t they tell men to discipline themselves?’ Yes, men should discipline themselves,” he said.

However, he appealed to women not to make this responsibility more difficult for them by the way they dress.

“But please don’t destroy our disciplinary anointing. Don’t make us weak. What we struggle with outside the church is already more than enough. We should not come to church and see the same thing,” he added.

A call to modesty outside the church

Davids said that modest dress should not be limited to church services, but should also be reflected in workplaces and other public places.

“Even in your office, you are a Christian. what is that?” he asked.

The priest revealed that his concerns became more apparent after he sat among members of the congregation instead of remaining at the altar.

“During the service I am usually focused on the altar and the stage. But when I sat among the congregation, I saw unspeakable things,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Davids said he felt compelled to address the issue from a father’s point of view.

“I think I have to address that as a father,” he said, urging women believers to embrace modesty and support values ​​that reflect their Christian faith.
