“We speak from” — Pastor Ibiyeomie responds to criticism for staying silent on insecurity

Founder of Salvation Services, David Ibiyeomiehe responded to growing criticism that religious leaders were not speaking out strongly enough about the deteriorating situation in Nigeria uncertainty.
Speaking during the church service, the priest asserted that many of those who demanded that pastors speak today remained silent when some church leaders criticized the government during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Ibiyeomie, pastors and religious leaders have not been completely silent on national issues, insisting that concerns about governance and insecurity have surfaced over the years.
He questioned why some critics seem to overlook past interventions by church leaders while accusing them of inaction today.
His comments come amid a growing public debate about the role of religious leaders in addressing issues such as insecurity, kidnappings and governance.
He said…
“Now nobody speaks, all those people who spoke during Jonathan’s tenure no longer speak out, Nigeria is a funny country. They spoke during Jonathan’s time, why don’t they speak anymore. They say that the people of God do not speak about the insecurity of the country, those who spoke during Jonathan’s tenure, why don’t they speak now? When we spoke, we don’t speak? We have been shouting since then”
