Gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has become the subject of new online debates after a video of her dancing with leading political figures surfaced on social media.
In the viral video, the singer was seen in high spirits as she danced alongside Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other notable government officials. The video quickly spread across the internet, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians who expressed support and criticism.
The development comes shortly after Alaseyori faced backlash over her comments regarding the recent kidnapping in Oyo State involving schoolchildren and teachers.
Reports indicate that the gospel artiste spoke about the incident during a live session on Instagram on Monday, June 1, 2026, where she spoke about the growing insecurity in parts of the country.
Her remarks followed public outrage over the abduction of 47 students and seven teachers from a school in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15.
While many Nigerians continued to call for stronger government action, Alaseyori called on citizens to also consider the power of prayer in solving the crisis.
She suggested that security personnel may be making efforts but may still face unprecedented challenges during operations.
Defending her position, she said that the president and the security agencies should not be accused of inaction.
According to her:
“We have to pray. You can’t say the president and our armed forces are not working, they are working. Maybe they sent security agents into the forest and something will just cover their eyes and not let them see the terrorist, that’s where prayers come in.”
The statement sparked widespread debate online, with many social media users reacting strongly.
The newly released dance video has now further intensified the debates surrounding her comments and public image.

@modestywithrayo:”This woman does not fit in the hand of a Nigerian 😂.”
@muorahcharles: “Nigeria will happen to her and we will pray for her.”
@kogi.boy1:”What do you expect from APC political tools.”
@realstevemorris: “So that no one can dismiss their opinion that is not the same as how you see things..una has to retract them. For the same reason most celebrities support them behind social media.”
@daylee_leevin: “You know, I’ve often been of the opinion that the political class and the religious class work hand in hand to keep the Nigerian masses enslaved. Until the average Nigerian realizes that those classes are not necessarily there for you, this country will struggle to fix itself.
“For someone who says Nigeria should pray that her prayers can save the kidnapped school children in Oyo State, how quickly did she forget the Chibok girls? More than 200 school girls were kidnapped in 2014/2015. How many of her prayers and the prayers of our countless religious leaders brought those children back? How much? Nigeria prayed. Churches prayed. Religious leaders prayed. Are these the hard questions that many people avoid questioning both political power and religious authority, this country can continue to move in circles.
