In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that she had just returned from the gym and was stopped at a traffic light when young man Almajiri approached her caras is commonly seen in the area.
However, she claims that the boy was acting aggressively while knocking on her window, which is why she first thought he might break the glass.
“This little boy, one of these Almajiri boys, must have been 7 to 9 years old. He came to my window and was knocking really hard. I could literally feel the glass breaking,” she said.
She explained that the situation further escalated when she ended up rolling down the window to calm him down.
According to her, the boy did not let her close the window and insisted on giving him money. Moments later, she said the boy tried to steal her gold chain while she was still in the car.
“When the light turned green, I just felt something on my chest like a slap. This boy tried to grab my gold chain, he cut it and ran away,” she said.
The lady expressed her shock at the incident, noting that the boy was no more than seven years old, describing the experience as deeply traumatizing.
The incident has since sparked online conversations about street begging, child protection and the growing insecurity in major Nigerian cities like Abuja.
