I don’t believe that marrying a poor man can make you happy – Nancy Isime

Nollywood actress Nancy Name she shared her views on the role of financial stability in relationships and marriage, emphasizing that love alone may not be enough to maintain a happy family life.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, Isime stated that she disagrees with the belief that getting married a partner in financial problems automatically guarantees a fulfilling and pleasant life for the woman.
According to the actress, financial challenges can put significant pressure on couples, often affecting their ability to fully enjoy their marriage, comfortably raise their children and pursue their shared goals.
She explained that while love and compatibility are important foundations for any relationship, economic realities cannot be ignored, especially when couples start building a family together.
Isime therefore encouraged couples who intend to achieve a reasonable level of financial stability before getting married and having children, arguing that proper preparation can help reduce avoidable stress and improve overall family well-being.
Her words…
“Marriage is not a poverty alleviation program, but I don’t believe that marrying a poor man can make you happy.
When rent is due, school fees can’t be paid and there’s no food in the house, it’s hard to have a fantastic life.
I am not saying that there is no love without money. But love and a fantastic life are not the same…”
