Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has sparked a conversation on social media after she revealed that she destroyed the clothes she wore to late actor Alex Ekubo’s funeral.

The actress revealed this in a post on her Instagram Stories, where she explained that the decision was based on the advice she received from her godmother.

According to Angela, her godmother told her that clothes worn at funerals should not be kept, but should instead be disposed of by burning. Following the advice, the actress said she decided to get rid of the clothes she wore to Alex Ekubo’s funeral.

“These are the clothes I wore to Alex’s funeral. My godmother said it’s not good to have the clothes you wore to the funeral around; burn them,” she wrote.

Angela also posted a video of the moment her clothes caught fire. She explained that the practice was something she had only recently learned and felt compelled to share with those around her.

Encouraging her followers, friends and family members to take the advice, the actress offered prayers for God’s protection and longevity.

“So family and friends take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep us and bless us with long life. Amen. Chai,” she added.

Her announcement quickly sparked mixed reactions online. While some users supported the tradition and recounted similar beliefs in their families, others questioned the need for the information to be made public.
