“That’s when my aunt realized that the 58-year-old woman had cheated on her,” recalls Lady of the £1m reunion

AND lady has shared how her aunt lost ₦million after reconnecting with a former classmate during a school reunion, despite receiving an earlier warning about lending money to people at the reunion.

According to the narrator, it was the first time her aunt had attended the gathering in many years.

She says her former classmates were excited to see her, while an old friend privately advised her not to lend money to anyone who approaches her because some people have a habit of lending money without paying it back.

The lady explained that her aunt remained in contact with the woman after the reunion and they spoke regularly on the phone.

About a month later, the woman applied for a £2m loan to restock her shop, promising to pay it back within a week after securing another loan. Her aunt ended up transferring ₦1 million.

The friend disappeared after collecting the money

Recounting the incident, the lady said: “A very old friend approached her and told her that in case someone asked her for money, she should not give it to them, that it was their usual habit and that they would not pay it back.”

She further stated, “My aunt borrowed 1m. Suddenly the woman stopped calling and stopped answering my aunt’s calls. Weeks passed and she didn’t return the money… That’s when my aunt realized that the 58-year-old woman had cheated her.”

The discovery raises more questions

The teller said her aunt later contacted another male colleague to seek advice. According to him, he experienced a similar situation with the same woman after he lent her money on two occasions, and the communication was interrupted after the second loan.

The account has since sparked an online backlash, with many social media users urging people to be careful when lending money, even to longtime acquaintances or friends who have reunited after many years.
