Brobbey, Gakpo shine as Netherlands beat Sweden in five-goal win

The The Netherlands he delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament so far, sweeping the side Sweden 5-1 to get closer to the round of 16 of the World Cup.
Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo each scored twice as Ronald Koeman’s side produced a relentless attacking display that exposed Sweden’s defensive weaknesses and cemented their status as strong contenders in Group F.
The result puts the Dutch in a strong position with qualification now all but assured, while Sweden face a tense final group game to keep their knockout hopes alive.
A quick start decides the game
The Netherlands wasted no time in reasserting control, scoring within five minutes after a quick move cut through Sweden’s midfield and defense in just seven passes.

Brian Brobbey finished off the action after setting up Cody Gakpo, who sent in a low cross from the left wing.
The striker doubled his tally 12 minutes later, reacting quickest inside the penalty area to convert Denzel Dumfries’ delivery.
Sweden briefly threatened to reply when Gustaf Lagerbielke struck before half-time, but the goal was ruled out for offside, ending any momentum the Scandinavians had built.
Gakpo and Brobbey record dominance
All hopes for the return of the Swedes disappeared almost immediately after the resumption.
Gakpo extended their lead in the opening minutes of the second half before adding their second shortly after the hour mark, completing a move that included substitute Crysencia Summerville.
Sweden managed to console Anthony Elanga, who finished neatly after a well-timed run in behind the Dutch defence.
However, Summerville capped an impressive display with a goal late on to complete a convincing win.
The result means the Netherlands now top Group F, needing only a point in their final group game against Tunisia to confirm progress.
Meanwhile, Sweden must avoid defeat against Japan to stay in contention for the knockout stages.
