Nigerian billionaire businessman Keji Giwa has sparked widespread debate online after he publicly defended his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The real estate mogul claims that in Nigeria, business success and politics are deeply intertwined, arguing that it is unrealistic for entrepreneurs to separate the two.

According to him, business owners who do not take into account the impact of political decisions on their business are likely to have problems. He stated that political structures often determine the direction and survival of businesses in a country.

Speaking on criticism for his support for Tinubu, Giwa questioned why he should be condemned for his stance, adding that many of his critics do not understand the reality of running a big business in Nigeria.

He further challenged those opposed to his stance, asking them if they would be willing to financially support his family if his business suffered setbacks.

In one of his more controversial remarks, Giwa said: “Whether Nigeria gets better or not, I’m perfectly fine; in fact, I’m counting on it not getting better.”

He has also made statements touching on religion and personal beliefs, claiming that he has accepted the consequences of his choices, even suggesting that he does not care about spiritual judgment. In addition, he revealed strict workplace rules at his company, stating that any employee who says “God will provide” risks immediate dismissal.

His comments continued to draw intense reactions on social media, with Nigerians divided over his outspoken views on politics, religion and the intersection of business and governance.
