“I told him…” The lady seeks advice as the man who canceled the wedding because of her absence at his father’s funeral

A social media user has recounted how a lady’s engagement failed and later escalated into repeated family interventions after she was unable to attend her father-in-law’s funeral due to work restrictions, leading to her cancellation wedding and ongoing disputes.
The woman shared her account, explaining it her wedding was originally scheduled for March, but was called off after a family bereavement and workplace restrictions prevented her from traveling.
Funeral absence and workplace restrictions
According to her, her father-in-law died in November, and the burial took place in December, just a few weeks after his death.
She said she sincerely wanted to attend the funeral but could not get leave from her employer due to strict operational rules.
“I I couldn’t secure leave from my employer,” she stated, adding that the notice period was too short and that her employment contract limited her leave during peak periods.
She further explained that she informed her fiance about the situation and that she contributed financially to the organization of the funeral. At first, she said, he seemed to understand her circumstances.
However, the situation allegedly changed after her mother-in-law called.
Family pressure and growing tension
The woman said that her mother-in-law insisted that she must be present at the funeral if she really intended to join the family.
“She told me that if I really wanted to be a part of their family, I had to attend her husband’s funeral.” she said, adding that her explanation was dismissed out of hand during the call.
Soon after, her fiance allegedly confronted her, questioning her absence and comparing it to a hypothetical situation involving her own father.
“if it was my father, wouldn’t you find a way to attend?” – he asked, according to her testimony.
She replied that the circumstances were different due to employment restrictions. Then, she said, the relationship took a decisive turn.
“Then he said the words that changed everything, he said no presence, no wedding.”
Wedding cancellation and emotional breakdown
The woman said that at first she believed her fiance was speaking out of grief, but the wedding cancellation later became final.
Despite her family’s attempts to intervene, she said the relationship could not be saved.
“My family tried to intervene, but all attempts were aborted.” she said, adding that her father eventually advised her to move on.
She described the period that followed as emotionally difficult, but said she gradually began to heal and accept the end of the relationship.
An unexpected attempt at reconciliation
According to her testimony, she was later contacted on May 20 by her ex-fiancé, who allegedly suggested reconciliation and postponing the wedding.
She said his comments were unexpected and troubling, particularly his expectations about how she should have handled the earlier conflict.
“He said he expected better from me as a future wife. she said, adding that she believes she should have continued to address his family.
She further stated that he has already set a new wedding date for August and expects preparations to begin immediately.
The woman, however, said she immediately rejected the proposal.
“I told him I was no longer interested and that I was done with the relationship.”
Continuous pressure and family intervention
She claimed that her ex-fiancé refused to accept her decision and insisted that he had no right to end the relationship.
According to her, “it wasn’t finished and I don’t have the right to say I’m done.”
After the confrontation, she said she blocked him, but he later visited her family home with a price tag and previously discarded wedding items.
Her father reportedly informed him that the family no longer considered her available for marriage and asked him to leave.
Despite this, she claimed the visits continued, with repeated calls from his mother.
Legal issues and request for advice
The woman concluded that the repeated visits and continuous pressure were becoming disturbing and unwanted.
She said she was now considering legal action because of what she described as persistent contact and refusal to respect her decision.
“At this point I begin to feel that there is something deeper behind their persistence,” she said, adding that she felt her consent and choices were being ignored.
Since then, she has asked the public for advice on how to handle the situation.
