A fresh video allegedly released by terrorists holding abducted students and teachers in Oyo state shows the headmistress of the school, Mrs Alama, making a fresh appeal as she dismisses widespread reports of the kidnappers’ demands.

In an emotional video, Mrs. Alamu rejected the claims being spread in social and traditional media that the kidnappers were asking for a ransom, the introduction of Sharia law or the acquisition of weapons. She insisted that such reports were inaccurate and worsened the situation of the prisoners.

“Please, I want to make some clarifications. Today is the 24th day that we have been in this place and it seems that some people are already complicating our problems,” she said in the video.

She explained that the kidnappers showed them various media reports in which they made various demands, including large sums of money and religious conditions, but she claimed that none of these claims were true.

“They showed us some print media which stated that these people who kidnapped us were asking for release. They said they were asking for billions of naira. They were asking for sharia to be established in the country. This is not true. They are just trying to create problems for us,” she added.

Ms. Alamu further stated that the captives were not forced to perform any religious practices and denied reports that the captors made financial or religious demands.

“We’ve been here since we weren’t forced to pray in the Islamic way. They didn’t bother us about it. They’re not asking for Sharia law. They’re not asking for money. The only thing they’re asking for is the release of some of their people.” she said, urging Nigerians to help spread the message.

She also called for understanding and quick action, stressing that the situation requires negotiations, not misinformation.

“All they want is the release of some of their people. The government will negotiate with them and know who they will release instead of them,” she added.

The video emerged amid earlier reports that the kidnappers demanded ransom, vehicles and the introduction of Sharia law before agreeing to release the victims.
