Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has appealed to the government to take immediate action on the security challenges facing the country.

In a post he shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the actor expressed concern over the growing insecurity, lamenting that schools and classrooms, once considered safe spaces for learning, have become targets of attacks. He questioned how the nation had reached a point where innocent children could be left vulnerable in the hands of criminals despite being under the protection of elected leaders.

Adedimeji also pointed out that another election season is approaching, and politicians are already making new promises to citizens. He lamented that while innocent schoolchildren remain in captivity, life seems to go on as normal for those in positions of power.

The movie star urged the government to act quickly, making an impassioned appeal for the safe return of the abducted children and their teachers.

His words…

“This is beyond the rhythm of the song and the melody behind the lyrics; it’s about our pain, our unwanted reality.

Who would have thought that classrooms would no longer be safe? Who would have thought that vulnerable children would be handed over to games in the hands of the people we elected?

The elections are around the corner, and they are promising again. Innocent children are on the side of the daredevils, but for them everything is business as usual… who shall we call?

Dear people from the government, get in touch. You know what to do, please. Do it. Bring back the children and their teachers… Edakun”.
