“This is the reason why I have no confidence in Tinubu” – VDM reacts to the speech on the occasion of Democracy Day

  • Social media activist VeryDarkMan has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech, expressing doubts about the administration’s strategy to fight insecurity and terrorism in Nigeria.
  • The activist claimed that repeated calls for bandits and terrorists to surrender had not stopped attacks across the country, citing ongoing kidnappings and killings as evidence that stronger action was needed.

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted strongly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech, expressing disappointment at the administration’s approach to insecurity in the country.

On his Instagram page, the activist criticized the president’s stance that bandits and terrorists should surrender or face the Nigerian state, arguing that such an approach has not stopped the ongoing attacks across the country.

“This is why I have no confidence in President Tinubu, because how do you say bandits and anyone who sponsors terrorism should surrender or face the Nigerian state?” he said.

He questioned why criminal activities continued despite repeated calls for armed groups to surrender, insisting that stronger and more decisive action was needed.

VDM lamented the continuous killings and kidnappings across the country, especially the recent Oyo attack on school children and teachers, saying Nigerians are no longer safe.

“Every day, insecurity increases. They continue to commit these crimes. And yet you wait for them to surrender,” he added.

He also referred to past promises made during Tinubu’s 2022 campaign, in which the president promised to eliminate criminal gangs, questioning the progress made so far.

The activist further recalled the 2014 abduction of the Chibok girls, saying the unsolved cases and ongoing insecurity show that lessons have not been fully learned.

His comments have since sparked debate online, with supporters and critics debating the government’s security policies and the state of security across the country.
