AND Nigerian has responded to criticism surrounding content creator Peller’s decision to marry at a young age.
The man, identified as Edo Baba on Facebook, shared his opinion defending the content creator against criticism due to his age.
“21 is not too young to get married”
In his post, Edo Baba argues that getting married at 21 should not be considered unusual.
According to him, people are often late marriage due to various reasons such as poverty and others.
It is compared to older generations
He went on to use people from earlier generations as an example, stating that people from the 1940s and 1950s often married in their late teens and early twenties.
He also invoked his father and veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie to back up his point.
“My dad had his first child at 25. Pete Edochie had his first child at 23,” he wrote.
Calls for support instead of criticism
A Facebook user urged people to stop criticizing the couple and instead show support as they begin a new chapter.
He argued that negative comments aimed at the relationship only create unnecessary pressure.
In his words:
“At 21, Peller is not too young to marry. Two reasons why people marry late are poverty and the wife’s narcissism.
In the 40s and 50s, people are getting married in their late teens and early 20s.
My dad had his first child at 25. Pete Edochie had his first child at the age of 23.
People should carve out some time for the young couple.
Negative talk about their marriage is bad energy.”
