Drama as a man returns ₦5,000 after an elder says the cash gift is too small

AND man sparked conversation online after sharing how he took back a £5,000 gift he had originally intended for an elderly man who later refused the amount.
The man explained that he went to greet an elderly man identified as Baba Adugbo, who during their interaction asked him for money.
According to the account, he opened his bank app to transfer ₦5,000 but due to network issues affecting the receiving bank, the transaction could not be completed. Instead, he arranged for a woman next door to deliver the cash on his behalf the next day.
Gift returned over amount
After receiving the money, the elderly man returned it, saying the amount was too small.
The broker later informed the sender that the money had been rejected and asked what should be done with it. The man replied that she should keep the cash temporarily while he provided his account information for a refund.
However, before the refund was processed, the elderly man allegedly sent someone again to collect the money.
The development prompted the broker to contact the sender again to determine if he still wanted the money back or if he wanted to give it to the elderly man.
Explaining why he wanted the money back, the man wrote:
“But I will not tolerate such nonsense, especially when it comes to money that I worked hard for and from someone who has done nothing for me in his life.”
The mediator’s advice sparks debate
The man said his wife advised him to ignore the situation because the recipient was elderly.
According to him, she encouraged him to show respect and accept the behavior of the man because of his age.
Despite the advice, he insisted on a refund and immediately sent his account details.
He later claimed that the elderly man was surprised to learn that he had been refunded instead.
