“I would rather join bandits than sell Akara and Kulikuli” – Mr. Real reacts to Remi Tinubu’s advice

  • Mr Real, the Afrobeats crooner, has responded to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s comments on small businesses to generate income.
  • Tinubu suggested the sale of items such as akara, kulikuli and roasted maize to deal with the economic challenges.
  • Mr. Real criticized the advice, saying it was out of touch with the harsh reality facing many Nigerians.

Afrobeats singer, Mr. Real, was commenting on the recent comments of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who advised Nigerians to explore small businesses like selling akara, kulikuli and roasted maize as a means of generating income during the current economic hardship.

Reacting to the statement, the “Legbegbe” crooner expressed displeasure with the advice, describing it as out of touch with the reality many citizens are facing amid the rising cost of living and economic pressure.

Mr Real further sparked a backlash with a controversial comment, saying he would rather choose a life of thugs than engage in petty trading as suggested by the First Lady.

According to the singer, he believes the government would eventually offer him amnesty and rehabilitation if he were to go down that path, as has been done in some cases involving criminal gangs.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Mr. Real criticized the recommendation and questioned whether small-scale trading alone could adequately address the financial problems facing many Nigerians.

His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with social media users expressing mixed opinions about the First Lady’s advice and the singer’s response.

He said; “I’d rather join a bandit than sell kulikule and akara. And my target will only be politicians. At least if they catch me, they’ll rehabilitate me.”
