From ₦691 million to under ₦20 million? The VDM NGO account raises questions

- A screenshot purportedly showing the status of VeryDarkMan’s NGO account has sparked widespread debate online.
- The picture showed that over ₦691 million was deposited into the account, with over ₦671 million allegedly spent and less than ₦20 million remaining.
- The development has rekindled public interest in the activist’s NGO, especially after Don Jazzy’s ₦100 million donation in 2024 which was widely publicized.

Fresh debates have erupted online after a screenshot appeared on Facebook purporting to show the balance of an NGO account belonging to social media activist VeryDarkMan.
The screenshot, shared by Facebook user Ekwutosi Oke C AdaNsukka, shows that the account received a total of ₦691,609,964.78, with ₦671,770,394.14 allegedly spent and a remaining balance of ₦19,939,570.64.
The figures quickly attracted attention on social media, with many users expressing surprise at the amount spent and raising questions about the account’s activity.
The renewed interest in the NGO’s account comes months after renowned music director Don Jazzy donated ₦100 million to support VeryDarkMan’s initiative.
At the time, VeryDarkMan initially expressed concern about the large transaction and publicly called on Zenith Bank to investigate the payment, fearing it could be linked to money laundering or an attempt to frame him.
However, he later discovered a message from Don Jazzy which confirmed that the donation was genuine and intended to support the NGO’s activities.
The message allegedly read:
“Morning bro. I just saw your post. Send me 100m for support. I believe in what you are doing.”
In addition to his NGO activities, VeryDarkMan has remained active in advocacy campaigns across the country. He recently led a protest in Ibadan, Oyo State, demanding stronger government action following the abduction of school children and teachers in Orira Local Government Area.
