Celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual has penned an emotional tribute to his late best friend Alexx Ekubo, describing his death as a painful loss that has left a permanent void in his life.

In a heartfelt message shared after the actor’s burial, Yomi Casual reflected on their more than 15-year friendship, revealing that Alex was much more than a friend than family.

According to the designer, the late actor stood by him through life’s ups and downs, offering him guidance, loyalty, wisdom and unwavering support whenever he needed it.

Yomi described Alex as a trusted advisor, teacher and brother whose kindness and selflessness touched all who were lucky enough to know him.

He pointed out that their friendship was built on years of shared dreams, laughter, business successes, disagreements and unforgettable memories.

The designer also revealed one of his biggest regrets after Alex’s death.

“It hurts deeply to know that I didn’t spend your last days on earth with you. Alex, this one hurts sooo much! If only I had known that our time was running out, I would have done everything possible to be by your side. That regret will follow me for a very long time.”

Yomi went on to say that he understands why Alex chose to keep his illness a secret, noting that the actor handled his struggles with dignity despite the pressures of public life.

“Ore, ne mogu te kriviti što svoju bolest držiš u tajnosti. Poznavajući svijet u kojem živimo, mogu samo zamisliti što bi ljudi rekli. Svoje bitke nosio si dostojanstveno i snažno.”

Reflecting on their relationship, Yomi said their friendship survived despite public scrutiny and rumours, adding that outsiders never truly understood the depth of their relationship.

He expressed his gratitude for the years they spent together and the impact Alex had on his life and family.

“Thank you for being the brother I chose and the friend anyone would be blessed with. Thank you for your leadership, loyalty, sacrifices, wisdom, and the countless memories we’ve created together.”

The tribute comes days after Alex Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones gathered to pay him their last respects.
