Izzy Ogbeide Defends Young Creators In YCee-Peller Debate

Media personality Izzy Ogbeide joined the debate started by the rapper YCee’s critique of content creator Peller.

Responding to YCee’s remarks on what he called the “Olodo Uprising” or “Culture Peller”, Izzy argued that it was unfair to blame the youth for wider social and government failures.

According to her, many Nigerian youths are victims of the same economic and social conditions that older generations complain about.

She asked why she should criticize young people who are trying to survive and create opportunities for themselves to adapt to difficult circumstances.

Izzy argues that society often directs its frustration at young people instead of addressing the systemic problems that contribute to unemployment, poverty and limited opportunities.

She suggested that both critics and content creators are affected by the same challenges and should not be positioned as adversaries.

Izzy further argued that Nigeria tends to be particularly harsh in its judgments of youths, noting that many youths are simply trying to navigate a system that has failed them.

Her words…

“I don’t see anywhere in the world where a grown man blames a young person for the failures of society and government. You blame the victims of the same circumstances you suffer from. There is no society that condemns young people more than Nigerian society. How can you blame a victim of the same system that failed you and me, even though he somehow managed to escape the matrix?”
